What's inside:

100% Burundi (Single Origin)

Producer: Smallholder Farms
Altitude: 1,700m
Variety: Bourbon
Process: washed

The Masha Washing Station takes its name from the hill on which it is located. The name Masha is derived from the Kirundi word “amasho,” which means “herds of cattle,” since cattle ranching was a major source of income in the region for a long time. Today, in addition to coffee, Imihororo trees are also cultivated; the local people use the fibers from these trees to make traditional clothing.

The washing station serves as a hub for several small farms in the region that grow exclusively Bourbon coffee. After the harvest, the coffee cherries are washed and processed. However, part of the harvest is also processed using the honey method. The combination of these two processing methods gives the coffee its distinctive sweet flavor.

When brewed as a filter coffee, its full-bodied character and sweetness take center stage, while fruity notes of stone fruit enhance the drinking experience. For espresso, we recommend a longer extraction using 60g OUT—for a nice balance and a well-rounded fruitiness.
